Wire between ignition switch and instument warning lights 900

I'm tracking down an intermittant problem that causes the warning lights in the instrument panel to remain unlit with the key on. When this occurs, I find a good "ground" circuit between the alternator warning light and the D+ post on the alternator. I'd like to test for 12V into the panel from the ignition switch, but not sure* which wire supplies it. Does anyone know which wire is the power source?

*My Haynes manual shows a blue/red wire from the ignition switch to the warning lights, but their wiring diagram is for a 940SE, so I don't trust it applies to my plain Jane 940 (has a different fuse box for one).
