ceaseless DINGING causing general insanity 700 1985

Hiya,

My brother just installed a new stereo in my old '85 740 Turbo. He said he was wiring it up, then remembered to disconnect the battery, disconnected the negative, and finished the wiring and plugged the battery back up when he realized the car was dinging with the door closed. You know, the ding when the key's in the ignition and the door's open. That one.

We got in, he turned it on, shut the doors and we were driving, but it was still dinging at us. Yeah, I thought it was funny when I got in the car today. But then five minutes passed. It wasn't so funny anymore.

What's getting power to cause all the dinging? I mean, it's a pleasant enough sound, but I don't want to hear it constantly. (And neither does he, as he's now the main driver of it.)

Thanks for any and all help solving this particularly tooth-grinding conundrum.
