shift lock won't automatically disengage, radio weirdness, are these signs of eminent wire harness failure? 200 1991

Ok, I've checked fuses 9 and 12 as per the manual but both seem fine (hazards and A/C, PW etc work perfectly too). Shift lock still won't disengage without pushing the manual release button. Is this a sign of wiring trouble to come? Last week my 2 year old aftermarket radio kept acting very strangely when playing cd's and even when just playing FM. The sound would cut out and yet the lights on the radio would stay on perfectly. It would almost be like the speaker cables were damaged but for the fact that when playing CD's, the CD would skip or play in slow motion so I know this is not related to a simple speaker wire.

Just wondering if this is an early sign of wiring harness failure?

Thanks,

Ruben
