Starla rear muffler - flow direction?

In the past I have bought the cheapie Starla muffler kit for my 240s. For some odd reason they no longer put a flow direction arrow on the rear 240 muffler (which can be reversed easily). Somehow I have always guessed correctly on these - one outlet has an cutout on the mating surface and the other doesn't. Is there any sure fire way to check for flow direction? I know I have bought mufflers before that had the simple arrow designation.
