Greetings
Today I replaced the engine wiring harness on my 81 245 B21F K-Jet CIS. Recently I have had the cylinder head rebuilt, replaced vacuum hoses, new injectors, seals and holders. I cleaned the throttle body and the underside of the air lift plate. Idle is correct, timing is correct. New plugs, wires, cap...
The idle is not as shaky as it was, but it still trembles. At the tailpipe I can hear and feel with my hand a slight stumble or maybe a miss. Car fires right up and accelerates and drives fine. Just the idle is still trembly. I noticed when I had the intake manifold off how much varnish and slime/sluldge there was in the runners and in the body of the manifold.
A few months back I tested the Thermo Time switch and it behaved correctly. Now I am wondering if the Cold Start Valve is malfunctioning. Could it be contributing to an overly rich condition which makes the idle not smooth?
I have decided to go through all my troubleshooting again now that the wiring harness is replaced. But how do I troubleshoot the valve itself? I suppose I could warm the car remove the valve and plug the hole in the manifold...
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Scott
