intermittent long cranking before starting 200 1991

It always starts, and most times it starts up instantly, but sometimes it needs crank for up to 5 minutes. Today it cranked until the starter began to whine, so now I'm concerned.

This is a problem I've lived with for over 3 years. I've changed plugs, wires, distributer and cap. Had the 02 sensor changed and cleaned the throttle body.

I noticed that if I pump the gas, I can smell it. So I believe the fuel is flowing. Also, once it starts, it runs great, plenty of power.

Any ideas out there?

Charlie
