1994 940: Brake Light Malfunction FIXED - THANKS TO KANE!!! 900

Dear Kane,

Good a.m. You were RIGHT!!! It was the BULBS.

I replaced brake/running light bulbs with brand new, #1157 bulbs, same brand, but different country of origin. Everything is 100% normal!!

The problem-causing bulbs were wagner brand, made in China (the package was marked "Made in Taiwan"). The base is nickel-plated

The problem-solving bulbs were also Wagner brand, but made in Mexico. The base is brass. They were a sealed-package set, which I've had as spares for a while.

I will report this to Wagner. I'd guess that the "Made in China" bulbs have higher resistance filaments. That - perhaps combined with the nickel plating - offered enough resistance to disrupt normal current flow.

The dual fog lights - a modification I did - had nothing whatever to do with this problem. The grounds were perfect. It was simply a bulb issue

Thanks to all, who stepped forward to save me from insanity!!!!

Kane, Bless You, for sharing your insights and for your perseverance.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Weekend!!

Yours faithfully,

spook
