light switch gremlin 200 1983

Something odd is going on with the headlight switch on this car, an '83 240 turbo. The other night when I turned the lights on while driving, the instrument panel and other dashboard lights were not lit. Turns out the tail lights were affected too. Headlights worked OK. If I push the light switch knob in, with switch on, all those other lights come on. If I let it go and allow it to pop back out (feels like the switch is on a spring), those other lights turn off. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Fixable or time to replace the switch? Information or advice appreciated. Thanks for any responses.
