Grill Emblem Removal 200 1983

I bought a new grill emblem for my 83 245. The old one looks pretty well stuck on there, like maybe the last 21 years have petrified it. Anyone have any ideas for removing it without destroying the grill itself? I practiced on one at the boneyard and pretty much made a mess of things with my flathead screwdriver.
