ignition switch -- keyed the same? 700

89 740.
The description of what happens when your switch goes bad in the FAQ sounds like what's happening to my 740. dies for no reason, sometimes mine stays in III and the starter keeps running, sometimes it'll think it's turned off (no radio, blinkers, etc..) but the motor still runs, etc..

I want to fix/replace the switch (per FAQ) but I couldn't find where it says whether or not I have to get new keys. (and thus have different keys for the door locks and ignition)

It reads like the ignition switch is 2 parts, the switch part, and the lock part, and they can be replaced seperately. Are my problems caused by the switch part or the lock part? Key usually turns fine, someitmes it requires jiggling, but I can live with that. the shutting off while driving is a safety hazard.

Any help is appreciated.

-Rob
