electrical/stalling problem 200 1987

I have an '87 245 which is experiencing what I believe is an electrical fault. The symptoms are intermittent and consist of: 1) reduced engine power and stalling 2) on the dash the battery, brake failure, and parking brake warning lights come on about half way (sort of flickering) 3) headlights dim, fans sounds like they are running slower etc. The battery also fully discharged once while the car was sitting with the ignition off, though I never been able find continuity when the ignition was off and the battery is holding charge now (so perhaps it drained while driving?).
From reading this board I gather that these cars have a problem with the wiring harness insulation deteriorating. Do these symptoms match those caused by the wiring harness?
Thanks,
Neil
