M46 (85 Turbo Wagon) Rebuilder in East PA or NJ? 200 1985

My 4 speed plus overdrive M46 has been doing peculiar things for nearly a year. Yesterday I let up on the gas while doing about 60, and the thing somehow became disconnected - engine went to idle. Put tranny in neutral, and then back into 4th, and it reconnected OK.

I had a mechanic in Easton PA look at it a month or so ago - he said he cleaned some kind of a screen in the OD - but it didn't seem to make any difference.

I would rather not put in a used tranny - at that age, it could be as bad as, or even worse than, the one I have.

The tranny itself seems OK (although I have a drive line "whine" - which I "think" is the differential) so I would think that if I could find someone who KNOWS the M46 tranny, they could clean the OD (maybe put in new bands? ) and put in back into good shape for the long run.

Any comments or ideas?

Thanks
