Bent up EPROM Chip 900

Wow!! I found a bent up EPROM chip in my Bosch Jetronic LH 2.4 computer! This poorly made computer is in my 95 940turbo that I have been having running problems with. This one was made in Spain and is Bosch # 0 280 000 954 (a rare bird). I have replaced everything in the FI system except the computer and wiring as that is the least likely things to go wrong. I finally got pissed off enough at this problem that I took the computer out and pryed off the cover over the circuit board. This is a very old design of-a-board and has a removable EPROM chip that is covered by a greenish colored plastic cap as can be seen in the far upper left hand corner of pic1. I pulled off the plastic cover to just pull the chip out and reseat it back in just like in the old days of PC computers. I was amazed at the bent pin on the EPROM that was not visible until the plastic cover was removed (Pic2). I straighten out the pin and reseated the chip and put the box back together. This is not a hard job, just remember to ground yourself out good the discharge static electricity before you open up the box. Work carefully and slowly. Better yet, if you feel uncomfortable with this, take it to a computer shop and they will do it for you. This was probably a one in 10,000 chance of a pin being bent. Why do I always win this kind of lottery instead of the kind that pays you $$ ?? For all to enjoy.
