960 Torgue Converter Lockup 900

Does anyone have experience/knowledge about protocol for torque converter lockup on 960s? My 96 965 seems to switch in and out of lockup at speed. Not that it jumps in and out, more that it seems to cycle more than I would expect depending on throttle input. On American vehicles so equipped with which I'm familiar, the lockup occurs at speeds over about 45mph, and the lockup is constant expect on hard throttle/down shift. My experience has been that my 960 will switch out of lockup mode with fairly light throttle application, even with no downshift and at speeds of 70mph. Does this sound normal? Is it indicative of a possible problem, or am I just being paranoid?
Thanks,
Richard
