how are lights and wipers connected 200 1989

I just purchased 89 240 dl, Great car but... When I turn on lights the windshield wipers also come on??? can find the connection. I have determined that the broun wire going into the motor is being energized when lights are turned on, there is also a brown wire in the light circuit. Where should I look for the connection? strange
