Making The Switch... 200

You can do it, the parts are available in any good junkyard which has a few Volvos, and it can be done reliably.

TurboBricks.com has a full, in depth, article on the transformation. Also, there are many guys running the setup every day who have all the information necessary.

By the way, compression ratio can be effected by head gasket thickness. And, the killer of such a "hybrid" combination , in the first place, is detonation. You should upgrade to Ford browntops for the extra fuel... adjustable fuel pressure regulator would be great too. The plus turbo modification has been worked out, but you can't do it half way. All or none principal.

Also, I would go the extra oil pan route. You have to have a bung welded, in whatever fashion you like, on the pan for the return. Some have used JB Weld type shit to avoid taking off the pan. In my opinion, you must remove the pan and have the bung properly welded for a clean, trouble free project. Get another oil pan at a pick and pull to have the work done to it, then swap over... can't cost more than $50-75 (w/ a gasket) to do it right. The install is on you or usually 4 +/- hours at any shop.

I agree w/ Kane... you will only be running 4-6 pounds of boost... this upgrade is value laden for any 240 owner. I could easily spend $2000 on head work, cam, and header and barely generate the same naturally aspirated power/torque you would with a b230f +turbo and $300-$500. Just today, I was wondering if the turbo head on an N/A motor would be better... guys on t.bricks are saying that it doesn't matter. If I could score a turbo head, for the same mod, I would use it over the n/a head.

You can always post back here. There are several guys on this board who can and love to help w/ modifications!

Peace, Jon
