Drive Shaft Replacement 200 1990

'90 245: My son and are in the process of restoring the car we bought to replace an '81 244. I have an '81 and an '87 parts car. I was thinking about taking the drive shaft from one of these, preferably the '81, since it is completely dismantled, and having the u-joints replaced and replacing the center support bearing. Then I could simply install it on the new car.

Am I completely off-base with this idea? Does the drive shaft need to be balanced, and if I have this done, does something need to be done to balance it on the car?

Any and all advice is appreciated.
