Limited Slip Differential 'Clunk' - Help! 200 1984

I recently bought an 84 242 TI with many upgrades. One of these was a new Limited Slip Diff. (Dana 30). There is a clunk when taking my foot off the gas, then reapplying. The automatic transmission was replaced with a 740 style M46, new poly bushings are tight all around and the U joints are in good shape. The LSD was checked and specs out exactly as it should. When on the lift, I can slide the drive shaft forward and back about 1/4 inch. Is this just inherent on LSDs or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks. Rob
