Sputters/coughs after start intermittent 200 1989

Hi all,

I have an 89 240 and it has just started sputtering after accelerating from a stop when driving. It sputters a couple times, then seems to regain itself and drives fine. It is an intermittent problem with no check engine light or anything like that. It also doesn't seem to matter if its cold or not. Does anyone have any suggestions what to look at?
