Fuel pick in 142 140-160

Where is the best area to take apart the gas tank at? it looks like i will have to do some things under there myself. where is the sender located? how do i get to it? ahhhhh! i also may need to replace the tank, as it is patched up from a run-in with a very large rock, so would it be better to try to find a replacement tank? would you suggust welding the tank properly if i have to take it out? any suggustions would help.

thanks,
Ben
