86 740 230BF no start-see what you think 700

My once beautifully- running wagon died a couple days ago & won't start. No sound, no power to fuel pumps. I connect 12v. source to pumps & they run. Fuel pump relay okay.
I swapped the fpr from my 240 & still no pumps. I check spark..no spark from coil main lead to distributor or to plugs. I have 12v. at coil primary with key on. I took the power stage from my 240 & installed in the wagon..still no start. Tonight I removed the distributor.... the connector to the hall sensor was oil oaked & the rotor's metal strip was in two pieces: only the center metal that touches the button on the main coil lead and the outer part that fires the plug wires.
I know that no spark means no fuel but can my problem be solved as simply as replacing the rotor? (Please say YES!!! I wanna believe....) Will the computer LEARN that there is spark now & turn on the pumps?
Any ideas appreciated!!

Thanks
