CBV and Vacuum Check Valve Operation 700

1985 760 Turbo

I have been experiencing a rich fuel mixture problem for some time and I am wondering if anyone knows whether a bad CBV Compressor Bypass Valve can be responsible for such a condition.

I was reading the FAQ on this valve and understand it’s purpose now but do not know if a malfunction of this can cause a Rich condition given that it is re-circulating metered air – this sentence in the FAQ is what is confusing me.

“A CBV is used with Bosch K and LH-Jet injection, as being a closed system, any loss of air for which fuel has already been metered by the movement of the airflow sensor plate, will result in an over-rich condition and possible backfire”

Does this mean it is there (to re-circulating intake ari) to prevent such a condition from happening? Like instead of dumping the metered air out of the system? Can a bad CBV valve Would create a rich fuel mixture?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
Please see my earlier post regarding the rich condition
