fuel pressure/hard starting 700

Posted earlier about long crank time to start. Turns out I can have no residual fuel pressure after the car sits for a few hours. I can open a fuel line at the manifold and nothing squirts out. I'm thinking check valve for sure. Any other ideas? Car runs fine when it starts. Just have to crank for a long time.
Also, it seems to me that the same check valve is widely used on 700s, 200s etc. .
Finally, does anyone have a way of telling if the check valve is bad when I get it off?
Thanks
Mike
