Given up...ditching E-fan for clutch (at least for now) 200

Post says it all...I'm tired of driving with the heat cranked stuck in Boston traffic especially underground. I'm going to put the mechanical fan back on for now so I can actually run the AC until I figure out the "right" combo for E-fan and temp probe. I'm pretty sure that the Hayden fan just isn't powerful enough to cool the radiator (1600 CFM) as it remains constantly on and the temp gauge does not drop from the redline until I crank the heat. If it were powerful enough wouldn't the gauge drop if it was always engaged? I don't have the old shroud installed though. Now, if the car still runs hot with the mechanical fan (which it never did until I put in the E-fan) perhaps it's my radiator (which is clean) or maybe water pump is going. I also think it's a problem with my thermo probe in the rad fins too which has been moved from spot to spot. My plan is to look into a Spal 16" with 2360 CFM and adjustable thermo that contacts the coolant by placing the probe in the upper rad hose and work from there. This is a common upgrade but I just can't seem to get it to a happy medium!!!
Here's a pic of my setup...
Best,
-Adam
