164 questions 140-160

Howdy all. I now own a dark red 1974 164E. 4speed+OD, 113k miles, crazy nice car. I ditched my GTI VR6 in favor of this car as a daily driver.I bought it sight-unseen and drove it 600 miles home.

I've owned a number of 1800's but that was the extent of the vintage volvo footprint in my stable. I have to say I am very impressed with the 164. For a 30 year old tank it is extremely civilized. The B30 is burbling with low end torque and revs smoothly. Having done a lot of work souping up B20's I am amazed what a difference the extra displacement makes. I think this is the 135hp B30F with a C cam. The worn out suspension is getting treated to some bilsteins this weekend. The sketchy vertical oscillations while driving down the freeway are beginning to cause seasickness...

Questions:
I think this car has a limited slip differential. I haven't jacked it up and done the rotation test on the rear wheels but a quick test in my gravel driveway makes 2 distinct wheel ruts. Was LSD delivered on any of the 164's or was it strictly a dealer installed option?

The bulb failure warning light pops on briefly whenever I mash the brake pedal hard. I've confirmed that all of the lighting works. Any particular (common) place I should look for a dirty connection?

Will a 140 IPD front swaybar fit the 164?

Thanks,
steve berry
