Grandaddy of all starting problems

lol I like the rubber tube to the cabin for a shot of either on the fiat (there is nothing like the smell of a meth-lab in the back of a pizza parlor)....thats yankee ingenuity at it's purest....I had a 86 Ford Ranger diesel...yes diesel (one of 200 2.3liter mitsubishi turbo diesel rangers brought to the US at a huge additional cost...why I will never know). well to make a long story short, the glow plugs failed and the diesel control module bit it and replacement of those parts was well in excess of the vehilce's worth. so my grandfather who was the owner of the truck at that time wired up an either injector unit from a john deere front end loader (small device that u can load a can of john deere starting fluid into and an electric selainoid opperated by a toggle in the cabin sprays the can sending the go-juice through a tiny tube and into the intake manifold.) The truck ran nearly another 200,000 miles like that. Although it did errupt clouds of white and grey smoke which turned to black soot each time it started....awsomely miserable...you could try that set up if all eles fails, but I would check the AAM as others have suggested as well as the coolant temp sensor and the cold start injector. good luck
