740 sway bar links, 42 mm ? 700

The FAQ says the washers attached to the end link bushings should be tightened so that they are 42 mm apart. I am confused, my old ones were much closer (probably in the thirties). When I tightened the new ones to 42 mm they were somewhat loose.

Am I missing something here. I am sure I put them on the same way the old one were installed, but the old ones were tight to the point they were compressed to a flat donut shape.

Please advise how to adjust the tightness of these bushings.

Thanks,

R Duke
