Broken fuel tank electrical connection on '88 744 GLE 700 1988

I broke the molded electrical connector that is on the fuel tank plate that the hoses connect to. I was able to find the plastic block on a junker and successfully remove it. Can I simply solder the wires from the broken one to this one, and then splice the wires that are outside the tank or is this some special type of solder? Any other suggestions?
