Someone on the 140 forum was talking about these carbon fiber hoods. I find it odd that there would be a market for these among 240 owners. But they make them so I presume someone is buying.
What is the purpose? Looks? Durability? Lighter weight? I suppose every ounce you can lose is a plus if you're racing but I got the impression from looking at the website that this is more of a fashion statement.
At $850 and another $180 to ship I'm pretty sure no one here will be buying one anytime soon, thrifty lot that we are.
It just seems so ricey (sorry, Andrew, if you happen to read this). Unless it could be painted to match the rest of the car. I don't even know if you can do that with this material. But that's the only way I would have something like this.
So fess up. Who out there has or wants a carbon fiber hood? Come on. I know there's one or two of you.
