I used to have a Peugeot 403 sedan that had a finger-screw on the distributor. After you set the timing, you could easily adjust it back and forth a few degrees using the screw.

It sure would be nice if we had an adjustment screw like that right on the dash...kind of like the old Model T's! We could adjust the timing and compensate for bad gas, high temps, etc.
