Introduction and Thermostat Question 700 1987

Which Thermostat? While you've got a choice, the Volvo specifications are:

B 200/204/230F/FD 198º F (92º C)
B 230FTurbo/234 189º F (87º C)

As far as the T-Belt, without records, I'd do it sooner rather than later. If it's a '87 with 90K miles, assume it's averaged aproximately 6K/year miles. That means that if the t-belt was changed at 50k, it might have been nearly 7 years ago that it's been replaced. You should also get a new tensioner, and be ready to do seals too. Having a water pump on hand would not be a bad idea either.

Moter mounts are important too. Take a look at your trans mount too.

Non of these jobs are overly difficult if you take your time and have the t-belt tool.

Good Luck,

Tom
