Cheap flexi-tube exhaust is stock? need more info... 200 1989

hey volvo pro...

sounds like you are looking at the corrugated tubing that routes heated air towards the airbox. That doesn't route exhaust gases, rather, the air that comes through that tube is heated by running alongside the exhaust system (but not through!), then through the tube towards the intake. The exhaust should continue down, beyond the corrugated tube, and passes underneath the firewall on the passenger side, running towards the back of the car. If it's sounding like a tractor, it's probably not because of the corrugated tube. I'd consider taking it, and the associated metal plates, off in order to ensure no heated air is going into the airbox when the intake thermostat misbehaves.

you'll probably have to do some checking to find the exhaust leak.
