'88 780 Alarm - no delay upon re-entry 700 1988

Hello all,

I have a question about my factory alarm. The owners manual states that if I mode-switch from manual to automatic on the control box, the alarm will initiate 30 seconds after the last door/hood/decklid is closed, and that upon re-entry, I have 30 seconds to insert the key into the ingnition and turn to position 2. Well, the first part holds true, with the mode-switch set to automatic, 30 seconds after the last door is shut the led in the left-rear quarterglass begins to blink. However, upon re-entry, I insert the key (in door lock) and turn - lights flash and horns honk. Where is the delay? Is there a relay that I need to replace? Usually, I don't mind using the magnetic key to deactivate the alarm, BUT when it rains I'd rather switch to automatic with the delayed re-entry, than to align the magnetic key to the reciever in the quarterglass. Also, was this alarm a 780 only type device or do the 740/760s have it as well?

Thanks in advance,
