Help! A/C compressor wires?? 200 1989

If your '89 is anything like my '88, there is only one wire going to the compressor. It is a green wire that operates the electric clutch to start pumping. The wire originates through the fire wall and pops out of a harness right behind the compressor, with a cylindrical plastic fitting. However, the wire doesn't go immediately to the compressor, it should attach to another green wire going back into a sleeve heading across the bumper to the reciever/dryer pressure switch. Then the wire returns via the bumper and pops out at the compressor with another cylindrical plastic connector. Now it connects the the compressor. There are no other A/C related wires that I know of in the engine compartment (unless you have an aux. pusher fan).
Maybe your year car has a low pressure sensor in front of the compressor?
