I'd be interested in possible reasons as well. I have the D-type, correctly set-up to work on 4th only. It functions fine except that in hot weather, after about 3 hours, and similarly to the previous caller, when revving (usually around 60-65mph) it drops back into 4th. It sometimes re-engages if you lift off the accelerator. Only had this problem in the summer. Bummer.

Would this be the same advice you gave the other chap?
