I have a 1989 240 DL automatic Transmission(not my manual tranny I am usually working on), the brain that tells the fuel pumps to work stopped working. I did the usuall test to find out it was in fact the brain (CPU) or whatever you call it. Anyway I searched with no luck to find a used repalcement. I was told by a Volvo Mech. that all I had to do was ground the wire coming from the CPU to the relay and it would work everytime the switch was in the run or start position. OK I did it and it works. No problem except that the engine seems to load up at idle, now this could or could not be a related problem as I just bought the vehicle "as is" and only started it after gounding the wire. So it could have been idleing rough before I bought it. So any thoughts on this type of fix?? Am I endangering having a gas overflow problem or anything? Thanks .. Max
