wierd OD tricks 120-130

Syvas,

I too have a J type OD (set up for use in 4th gear only) that on occasion when hot will not engage in 4th gear. The red light comes on when I push the level that should engae the OD, but it does not engage.

Sometimes when this happens (OD fails to engage in 4th gear), it feels like the OD engages in 2nd gear and once it happened in 1st gear.

After I changed the oil and wire filter I still had the problem, but after driving about 500 Km (300 miles) the problem went away.

I too would like to know what causes the OD to engage in lower gears. For now I'm satisfied that it works again, but sooner or later I'm sure the problem will return.
