Front anti-sway bar bushings question 200

Both the effects you mention are likely with ovalled bushings.

I put the blue poly (made in Australia) bushings in the 83 with a Turbo bar and they worked loose in a few miles - serious clunking then! There doesn't appear to be any inbuilt way of keeping them centered in the brackets. I'd guess they are a generic design not meant specifically for the Volvo brackets which require a 'cast-in' nub in the bushings to retain them. I drilled small holes in the brackets and 'safety wired' them to keep the bushings - more or less - centered.
