First, get a trickle charger and plug it in. Don't blame the battery yet, it probably never had a full charge. If the 'voltmeter' is less than 14 while the car is running, it's time for new brushes.
The next time you try to start your car, turn off all of the lights, radio, heater fan, and disconnect your cell phone. Use your Ebrake and keep your foot off the brake pedal, then turn the key.
Also check the connection at the battery for corrosion.
