Loss of power during first few accelerations after start-up 900 1992

My 1992 960 (1993 960 engine) has been having a loss of power issue during it's first few accelerations after the car is started, but at no other time. I can accelerate for a little bit and can get into a higher gear, but then the power suddenly drops out, and I mash the pedal to the floor but nothing will change. The tachometer doesnt seem to reflect the loss of power and seems to remain at the rpm the power was lost at. The loss of power will last for 5 to 10 seconds, and then power will rapidly be restored, resulting in a surge of acceleration if the pedal is pressed down. If the throttle is held at the same point on its first trip or two after start-up, the car will accelerate, lose power, and then regain power again, making it seem like the pedal is being moved, but not.

It seems like the engine isn't getting fuel or isnt getting air, but I think it could also have something to do with the electronic choking. I have no real clues as to what it could be though. The strange part is that the car will only do this on the first 2 or 3 times it accelerates after it is started up.

I've been getting 2-1-4 from the OBD system for some time now (RPM sensor signal missing spradically), but this has only started occuring in the past month. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with my problem or not.

I dont know exactly what the problem is here, and would like to before I take the car anywhere. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
