Vexed in Australia by Air Con Shims 200 1978

This is really puzzling/irritating...

I'm trying to fit a new belt for the a/c, but I still can't work out how to move the compressor/pulleys to allow me to get it on.

I've had advice on this site about this before and was told my model has shims that somehow adjust the tension of the belt?

I can't see anything like that, where are they?. I've removed the four bolts on the square plate behind the pulleys but that doesn't seem to do anything (and, incidentally, what's that wire attached to that plate?)

I've looked at the front of it, but there is one bolt that I can't move as it moves with the pulleys and I can't get a purchase on it.

I then thought of unbolting the bloody thing from the engine, but that wouldn't create the give I need either.

I'm obviously missing something very simple here...

PS. I chucked in a bottle of injector cleaner stuff tonight before filling up, crikey that gear's the business innit? The old bastard's running like it's half its age!
