oil leak 700

Just purchased a 1986 740 n/a with 175,000, for my 18 yr old, for $400. Runs great. The only problem is a small oil leak. The oil is all over the side of the lower part of the engine in the area of the oil seperator. I believe the gasket of the seperator is the problem "very hard no flex left in it". Is this a common problem with older volvos? There is what looks like a tube in what i believe is the oil return hole of the seperator, is this also replacable and if so, do you just pull it up by the lip? If you can lift it out, do they have a tendancy to break as you are trying to remove them (from being brittle). Are either of these parts orderable online or are they dealer only items? TIA
