B230F Alternator/AC Compressor bushings - installation questions 200 1985

So my belts don't line up right at all, and I'm replacing all of my old accessory mount bushings with new ones, but I've got a few questions. Sorry this is so long, but the Bentley and Chilton manuals are of no use on this subject.

1. Are there supposed to be any washers on the lower alternator bolt and upper bolt that connects the slotted mounting arm to the engine block? I've installed new bushings at all three alternator points, but the bushings seem to get squished by the bolt and nut heads (especially on the lower alternator through-bolt). All I've got on the bottom alt mount is the bolt, nut, and the bushings. Am I missing something here?

2. Which way do the alternator bushings install? For the alternator, I assume that the bushings install with the larger diameter part towards the alternator, in order to fill the gap. I've installed them like this, but the alternator still doesn't line up quite right; when tightened it's too far towards the radiator - the lower rear alternator bushing shifts out of its place inside the mounting bracket when the lower bolt is tightened. Do I need some sort of spacer here or washers to line things up? Like I said, my car had absolutely no washers on the alternator mounting bolts.

3. Which way do the a/c compressor bushings install? The new bushings look significantly different than the ones I took out - the ones that came out had two "high spots" on the ends to keep the bushings in their place; the new ones only have a high spot on one side. Does the high spot go on the outside or the inside of the mounts?

4. Does the alternator adjusting bolt's locknut face towards the front or the car or back? Does the a/c compressor's frontmost adjuster locknut face towards the front or the back of the car? I don't trust anything how it is - none of the accessories seem to line up right on my b230F - it seems a few too many shady mechanics worked on this car in the past......

5. Are the accessories supposed to pivot inside of the bushings? Are they locked in place only with the adjuster locknuts or should the bushing bolts be loosely tightened until the belt is where I want it, and then the bushing bolts are to be torqued down?
