Picking up 'New' 1987 240 DL - Need Advice 200 1987

Hi all -

I'm picking up 1987 240 DL 5-speed with 157,000 miles today for my son to have as his first car. It will be the 3rd Volvo in the driveway, however, the other two are 850s and now I need to collect a bunch of 240 related sites to assist with maintenance and parts.

Does anybody out that have links to site with clear instructions and pictures to help out simple driveway mechanics like me?

Also, anything that I should look out for with the 240 line?

I think the car is pretty sound overall, right now the list of needs include;

1. plugs, cap, rotor, wire & filters - just to get started right
2. one headlight has water & hole in it - needs replacing
3. front tires - wear pattern tells me alignment needed if not other front end parts.
4. A/C not working, sounds like compressor is trying - ideas? just need recharge? where do you get r12?
5. needs front grill - Anyone know of good deals on used parts?
6. Radio removed

Once I get the car home I'm sure the list will grow!

Thanks,

Ken
