Timing belt job (in the midst) 900

For a first timer, remove the fan, it gives extra room. ...I am trying to get the new belt back on...it s as if its too small, but I compared it to the old belt and the old part number and it checks out. I have now removed the tensioner..again..and compressing it all the way in, by the way, get a strong nail to hold it back, it bent the last one. Fixing to go back out there and putting the tensioner on again. Any quick responses would be great now guys.
