Timing belt job (in the midst) 900

I seem to recall installing the belt without the tensioner. Then put the lower bolt holding the tensioner to the block and rotate the tensioner into position to fasten the upper bolt. Then pull the pin.

The problem I've had is that the belt would be off by a single tooth by the time the tension was restored, necessitating redoing the whole thing. A recent post suggested using a tie wrap to hold the belt in position on the cam gears to prevent them from slipping a tooth while you're adding the tensioner.

Also make sure you've checked the timing belt faq section, if you haven't already done so.
