Air Condidtion Compressor Whine 900 1995

The air condition compressor emits a whining sound when driving at low speeds. Have had numerous problems with A/C of the years and the dealer has taken care of most of these. Issues include replacement of evaporator coil, condensor, all hoses, compressor (early in 1996). Also had a musty, mold or mildew odor the dealer took care of under warranty. The system cools OK however, the noice is annoying. Dealer says the compressor needs to be be replaced. I think they are convinced I have tons of money. I don't understand, the unit cools okay, just makes this annoying whinning sound. Any opinions are appreciated.
