Overdrive problem with AT-71 after high speed run. 900 1993

after fast highway run of 1/2 hour or more at 70-80 mph my overdrive likes to fall out of od at higher than normal( between 45-50 mph) and engage at higher speeds (50 or more mph or needing to go to 3500 rpm, then back off and wait for the shift) I changed the kickdown cable because I thought it may possibly have been dragging but the problem persits, although not as bad as before.
What else could it be? A/T Guru's out there have the solution? I am out of ideas. When the car cools down , shifting returns to normal. What's happening?
Right now It's a puzzle.
