Transmition slap 700 1987

I have an 87 turbo automatic and have noticed that the transmition sometimes does a slap when down shifting. Also have notice that it shifts back and forth between 55-60 which kicks the turbo up about 5-700 rpm. Any ideas would be helpful. Ed
