New Nissens 2 row tropical rad in.
Old 14 yrs old Blackstone out,but no cracks anywhere.Could be because we only have 2 hot months here in Canada per yr.like in sweden? The only problems(i) the clips supplied for screwing the fan shroud in does not fit has to use the old ones(2)there is a vertical ridge in front of the side tank preventing flush application of the bottom hose.Changed thermostat too with the FCPGroton supplied Calorstat 88 c in a Scantech bag( i ordered Wahler 87 c but got calorstat.(,seems to be sl bigger than the Wahler and silvery coloured as opposed to the copper coloured Wahler)Time will tell
Despite reassurance from Bricksters,(1/2 hr job)(I was told).,The real problem are the heater hoses, cos i have once overheating 10 min maybe.Changed stst too and found the gasket was burned bad from overheating. The firewall sides are okay to pull out.The fact that I had new heater core put in last winter mean that the hoses are not stuck. But the engine side hoses are stuck and the heater valve hose(rngine side) is the most difficult to assess even with the flame trap hoses removed.I ended up only changing the heater valve plus the section of hose going from valve to firewall(heater core spout(
Spent 4 hours but unable to change 1/2 of heater valve hose and the upper hose9going to the water pump pipe)was afraid of breaking the pipe and unable to assess the engine side of the heater hose.I'll leave it to the indy mechanic or dealer if it does leak at the heater hoses.
However, based on the good conditions of the 14 yr old upper rad hose, the 14 yr old rad.hopefullly wont be too near in the future.
thanks for everybody who advised
